BIBCANLIB-L is a bilingual discussion list established by Library and Archives Canada (LAC) to facilitate information exchange as well as professional communication and development within the Canadian library community. Bibliothèque et Archives Canada a crée BIBCANLIB-L, une liste de discussion électronique pour faciliter l'échange d'information, de même que la communication et le perfectionnement professionnel, au sein des milieux bibliothéconomiques canadiens.
List participants are encouraged to use the list to:
  • disseminate information relevant to both professional and support staff in Canadian libraries;
  • provide information on activities of interest to the Canadian library community;
  • discuss issues of concern to staff in Canadian libraries;
  • list job postings of interest to list participants;
  • exchange information such as business plans, user policies, research projects and digitization projects, etc.
 Les participants à la liste sont invités à s'en servir pour :
  • diffuser de l'information pertinente auprès des professionnels et du personnel de soutien des bibliothèques canadiennes ;
  • offrir de l'information sur des activités qui intéressent les milieux bibliothéconomiques canadiens ;
  • discuter de questions qui préoccupent le personnel dans les bibliothèques canadiennes ;
  • afficher des postes qui interessent les participants à la liste ;
  • échanger de l'information sur des plans généraux, des politiques à l'intention des utilisateurs, des projets de recherche et des projets de numérisation.

The ALA/ACRL/RBMS Exhibition Awards Committee is pleased to announce the triumphant return of the Katharine Kyes Leab & Daniel J. Leab American Book Prices Current Exhibition Awards. The award is given annually in recognition of excellence in the production of catalogs and brochures that accompany exhibitions of library and archival materials, as well as for electronic exhibitions of such materials. Please see the website for information on how to submit your entry.  But note that submissions of printed materials must be postmarked by May 1st. For digital exhibitions, only an entry form is required. The

Québec Studies to publish open access in 2026: LUP Open Languages achieves open access thanks to library support

Dear colleagues,

Liverpool University Press is delighted to announce that LUP Open Languages has successfully met its Subscribe to Open (S2O) target for 2026. This means that all thirteen journals in the initiative-including Québec Studies<https://www.liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk/journal/qs> -will publish their 2026 content open access.

As a result, 44 journal issues-365 research articles-will be freely available worldwide in 2026, opening up access to leading scholarship in modern languages, literatures and cultures.
This achievement highlights the strength of collaborative, community-led open access models and the role they play in amplifying the global reach of modern languages research.
